VISITOR’S GUIDE

Be prepared to have the best possible experience.

To have the most fun in Belize, make sure that you travel light, but be sure that you bring what you need.

CLOTHES

Belize is a very informal country. Casual summer clothes with a light-weight windbreaker are sufficient. If you plan on going to the jungle, bring long-sleeved shirts and pants; shoes wet socks, and or hiking boots – all are good ideas. Also, don’t forget a hat.

COMMUNICATION

Check with your cell phone provider about an international plan.

SNORKELING

Visitors are encouraged to bring their own, but we do provide equipment on tours.

CURRENCY

The Belize dollar is tied to the US dollar at a rate of 2 to 1. This means you get $2 Belize for every $1 US. US cash works best. We can charge all of your tours, meals and resort purchases via all major credit cards.

Each person cannot bring more than $10,000 US into the country. Make sure your credit card has no foreign transaction fees.

ARRIVAL

Either take a 25-minute flight from Belize City Airport to Placencia, where you will be picked up and brought to the Green Parrot beach houses. (The Placencia Airport shuttle is complimentary. Please inquire about the cost and availability of domestic flights, and we can manage booking for you.)

We also have a shuttle van that can pick you up at the Belize City Airport so you can enjoy the beautiful scenic drive through mountains and farmlands.

EQUIPMENT

Binoculars are an absolute must-have in this spectacular & diverse country. A flashlight with fresh batteries is also a good idea – as the roads and beaches are not lit at night. Don’t forget the sunblock and insect repellant, especially if you are going to the jungle.

TIME ZONE

Belize is on Central Standard Time (CST) year-round.

SCUBA DIVING

Many divers bring their own, but equipment is provided on tours.

HEALTHCARE

The closest hospital is in Dangriga, about an hour away. Placencia has an ambulance for emergency transportation. A part-time doctor is available in Placencia.
There is only a limited Pharmacy in this area, so please remember your medications!

We do have over-the-counter medications at the gift shop and incidentals such as sunblock and bug spray.

No immunizations are required for Belize.

TRIP INSURANCE

We do not sell trip insurance.
